ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Dozens of people from a northeast side neighborhood turned out for a meeting Tuesday night after a violent crime took place there last week.
The Concerned Citizens Against Crime meeting was organized by Jim Novak who lives in the Imperial Oaks neighborhood. It's in response to last Thursday’s armed robbery at a home in that neighborhood that sent the homeowners to the hospital. More than 100 people showed up to ask questions and come up with a plan to keep crime out of that area.
"By making people more aware of what's going on daily and at night that maybe someone will see somebody and report it to police and this won't happen again," Novak said.
This was the first meeting for the group, but Novak hopes it will turn into a bi-monthly event.
