BOONE COUNTY (WIFR) -- For the first time in three years, Boone County deputies are getting new squad cars.
Members of the Boone County board voted to spend $190,000 on eight new vehicles. This is the second time the issue has been before the board. That's because this purchase wasn't in the budget. Reserves from the public safety sales tax will be used to buy the cars. Some board members were concerned if this was the proper use for that money.
The Boone County Sheriff says the new squads should hit the streets in about six months.
