ROCKFORD (WIFR) – 40+ year veteran of Rockford area media and local radio, Phil Davidson, will be changing roles at Midwest Family Broadcasting’s Rockford Media Group. His new role as Director of Community Engagement will ensure our locally owned and operated brands are working with our community partners to make sure we are helping the area growing economically and socially.
"It's important to me that our local broadcast group is actively involved with making the greater Rockford regional community the best place possible to run a business and raise a family," said Mike Paterson, General Manager. "One way to do this is to make it easy for community groups and community leaders to access our media assets and Phil’s institutional knowledge about our market makes this a perfect fit.”
For the past few years, Phil has served as an account executive working with a diverse group of clients from health care to many locally-owned small businesses. Originally from Indiana, Phil studied Radio-Television at Southern Illinois University and received a Masters in Communications from Indiana University. He also proudly served in the United States Air Force. He has been in the Rockford area since 1973 working in sales and management roles including station Manager at WRWC in Rockton and Sales Manager at WROK. He has served as President of the Kiwanis Club twice since becoming a member in 1976.
“This role as Director of Community Engagement will allow me further my goals of creating a better community for the future,” said Davidson. “I am dedicated to the overall economic and social health of the entire Rockford Area.”
Earlier this year, Midwest Family Broadcasting purchased the Rockford Media Group and our 5 locally-owned and operated radio brands. More than 35 owned and operated stations currently fall under the Mid-West Family Broadcasting umbrella in Madison, WI, La Crosse, WI, Eau Claire, WI, Springfield, MO, Rockford, IL, Springfield, IL and St. Joseph/Benton Harbor/South Haven, MI.
