Two Counties Join Forces to Bring Federal Money to the Stateline

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The Rockford Region Economic Development District, or RREDD, is a joint effort between Boone and Winnebago counties.

The group is turning our area into a federally recognized economic district put simply; we will have access to millions of dollars in federal money that we couldn't even apply for before. RREDD had its first ever board meeting this morning, and its executive director believes having so many members from varying sectors is key to their success.

"It was very exciting to hear about all the economic initiatives that are going on in the community. I think this group is a unique way to bring the public sector and private sector together to talk about those initiatives." said Genevieve Borich, RREDD Executive Director.

More than three dozen private and public sector groups make up red, making it the largest collaborative effort in the Stateline.
