ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford's City Market is shutting down on a high note, with record crowds this year.
More than 70,000 people stopped by the market this season to visit more than 75 vendors, a major increase compared to last year. Organizers say the event brings millions of dollars to downtown businesses, considering people will stop by the market and then go out to dinner or stop for a drink at near-by restaurants.
Right now there are plans in the works for an Indoor City Market. Mcdermott says the project is still in the planning phase and right now finances are being hammered out.
