ROCKFORD (WIFR) – While some Stateline businesses are laying off workers one local company is adding to the payroll.
Clinkenbeard makes parts for airplanes and motorcycles including the new Harley Davidson. Workers say they continue to grow since the company started nearly 50 years ago. Managers plan to hire a handful of workers this year adding to their current 25 employees.
“It has been tough at times to find high skilled workers, but we found with Rock Valley College being local here, we’ve hosted capstone projects here. We also have a lot of training in house. We get them in here where they’ve got knowledge and then we grow them from there,” said Clinkenbeard General Manager Steve Helfer.
Clinkenbeard serves customers across the country. They have four plants here in Rockford.
