ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- For tonight's Landing Embry-Riddle segment, we hear from one of the state's most powerful men for an update on where we stand for landing a third ERAU campus.
Mike Garrigan caught up with U.S. Senator Dick Durbin at Beloit College Friday as he was stumping for Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold and U.S. Representative Tammy Baldwin. Durbin told me that when he met with Embry-Riddle leaders via video-conference last week, they were very impressed with what Northern Illinois has to offer. So i asked the Senator what advice he would give to Rockford leaders as they put together their presentation scheduled for later this month.
"They see it as a regional area so we can not only draw students not just from Wisconsin here where we're standing but also from Chicago and all over Northern Illinois," said Senator Durbin. "So that is what I think is one of the aspects. Secondly they may need some very basic incentives in terms of the land that they build on and the buildings that are built. I'm going to leave that to the local team to put that together but in my way of thinking that's what they're looking for at Embry-Riddle"

Meantime the Houston Chronicle has now done it's first article on the possibilty of it's city landing that third campus. The article says that Embry-Riddle President Dr. John Johnson will tour Ellington Field and hear from community leaders this coming Tuesday.
