Andco Kitchens & Baths, located at 540 S Perryville Rd, is celebrating its85th year serving Rockford. Andco began selling appliances such as ringer washers, vacuums, and radios in 1928 as CE Anderson Electric Co. in the old Lundstrom Peterson building down on 7th Street.
Around 1945, they became Anco Distributors, and branched out into the cabinetry business. They supplied a simple veneer maple core cabinet in a natural finish and laminate countertops with a chrome edge to a growing Rockford area.
In the late 1950’s, the company passed to the next generation of family partners, but had to incorporate as Andco Distributors since the Anco name was taken by Anco Wiperblades.
By 1960, they moved into a new building at 2241 15th Street, and have subsequently expanded the building three times. The site still serves as the warehouse and corporate headquarters.
1995 saw the formation of a new partnership between the family and Paul Johnson, the company’s top salesperson and future sole owner. This is when the name changed to Andco Kitchens & Baths. Shortly after, the Perryville location was opened to better serve the community.
Today, Andco provides its customers with the latest in convenience and elegance at a good price. Their professional and knowledgeable designers specialize in only cabinetry and counter tops, so they are able to offer suggestions and help alleviate problems creating a more rewarding and positive shopping experience for homeowners. As testament to the fact, Andco has maintained a successful business, despite the influx of big box stores in the Rockford area.
“We offer five different cabinet lines to our customers and are able to keep the costs down because we are a distributor. Our knowledgeable staff and excellent customer service really sets us apart from the competition”, say Paul Johnson, owner, Andco Kitchens and Baths.
