ROCKFORD(WIFR)-- It's been a long ride with many ups and downs over the last year. The dealerships future has been up in the air since October, when General Motors announced it was phasing out the Saturn brand.
Earlier this year, the dealership re branded itself, as Zimbrick of Rockford, focused around service and selling used vehicles.
During this time Zimbrick shopped multiple different franchise opportunities. to take the place of Saturn.
But General Manager George Schaffner says in the end none of them came to fruition, making it very hard to continue as a viable business down the road.
"We looked at all of our options obviously we tried to create a new business model for the store and we had some success. But we realized without a flag to fly, we had inventory issues we just couldn't solve. Everyone is buying cars from the same place and what it did is it drove our prices up and we couldn't get as many cars as we needed. So at a certain point you look at the reality of it and say financially, it's not working."
