Boeing May be Looking at New Business Partnerships in Rockford Area

"Orders are picking up for commercial airliners the best way to secure jobs in Rockford and grow jobs in Rockford is to get people involved in the supply chain and aerospace industry."

30 local aerospace manufacturers are currently supplying about 170-million dollars worth of products and services to Boeing. But Manzullo says at least 100 other local aerospace manufacturers could capitalize on the same opportunity. Boeing executives.. joined Manzullo at a supplier fair today.

Boeing leaders say they're surprised in the unique machining and fastening capabilities here.. they'll be following up with many of these companies about business opportunities.

" When I think of Rockford I think of Hamilton Sundstrand. But, what I learned today is there are really many many more small suppliers that are aerospace capable. We've announced that our production rates are increasing the 777 program is going to rebound back to 7 a month. the 737 is going to grow from 31 aircraft produced to 34. And with this growth I think will come more work in the area."
