23 News job expert LoRayne Logan believes layoffs are slowing in our area, but hiring hasn’t picked up quite yet. Logan says she’s not seeing the number of applicant coming into her staffing agency as she would have though. Many employers have found that they are able to remain productive with fewer employees, and are pushing it as far as they can with so many people looking for a job and so much talent on the market. Some companies are even holding our on hiring, thinking there might be someone else better than you.
When the recession began in 2007, data shows there was an average of 1.7 workers competing for the same job opening.
