As the local unemployment rate rises, so does the effort needed to find a new job. A local expert says standing out if the best way to succeed in getting back to work.
Lorayne Logan says, you’re in for a much longer job hunt nowadays. She says the competition is fierce, so networking is a must. Logan says, ask your family or friends to introduce you to someone who’s hiring. And always keep your resume in sparkling condition, meaning no punctuation or spelling errors. Logan also says, no matter what, you must bring your ‘A Game’ to every aspect of your job search.
“When you are in a face to face, be sure you look like the best that anyone can see that day. And that's about appearance and your own conduct. I will tell you I saw someone come in here with a soda or a banana... what are people thinking?”
As far as references, Logan says, get the person recommending you for the job to put them on his or her company stationary.
