RAEDC forms "Aerospace Cluster"

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- In an effort to grow more aerospace jobs in the Rockford region, the Rockford Area Economic Development Council has formed an aerospace cluster to improve business opportunities for suppliers in the region.

The new group will be called Rockford Aerospace Network or "RAN".

Members of RAN will share leads and tips on how to increase efficiencies and opportunities.

The debut event for the group will be an exhibit at the National Business and Aviation Show in Atlanta in mid October.

The NBAA is considered the premier U.S. aviation event.

"Most of the companies here are already doing business together," said Jeff Kaney, president of the Kaney Group.

"That cluster is already here in a very loose form. So why not just bring them together a little more closely and go forward," he said.

Also at Tuesday's press conference RAVE announced Friday's Icehog exhibition game is "Rock the Air Night".

Everyone who signs the Rock the Air petition will receive a free ticket to a future Icehog game.

Right now the petition count is near 13,000.
