ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- AARP and the workforce connection hosted a career and training fair today for those ages 50 and over.
Hundreds arrived at the Clocktower with resumes in hand hoping to find a job. Seven employers and various employment agencies spoke with the job-seekers. The fair offered workshops tailored to older people along with resume building. They focused on social networking and the importance of technology in the ever changing workplace.
"You don't have as much personal contact as you used to...where you give them your resume and fill out an application. So much of it has to be done on your computer first and follow through from there so that gets a little frustrating." said job seeker Deb Hendricks.
AARP hosts these fairs throughout the country hoping that employers will recognize the experience and qualifications of those over 50.
