ROCKFORD (WIFR)-- The Salvation Army is hosting a clothing drive in the center court of Cherry Vale Mall.
Items for kids between kindergarten and 12th grade are needed. They’re for Rockford public school's homeless community. Which right now more than 900 district 205 students not only don't have a steady roof over their heads but have very few items to call their own.
"the kids, a lot of this, it's not their faults, it's not their faults if their kids become unemployed parents are struggling, they don't know any better, they just know they don't have a change of clothes, they may have one pair of pants, a couple pair of socks and that's all they have." Said major Randy Hellstrom.
The clothing drive runs until Sunday, August 15th. Rockford’s school year starts August 25th.
