Super Bowl Gives Fans, Businesses Plenty to Cheer About

Staying at home just doesn't cut it for some football fans on Super Bowl Sunday, meaning extra business for restaurants and bars; places that customers say add more fun to the game.

"I love the atmosphere, the camaraderie, everyone is either rooting for the Patriots or the New York Giants. If one team is doing well, everyone just seems to side with them and vice versa”, says Rockton resident Jim Jefko.

And while going to the bars was the choice for some to enjoy the big game, dancing was another. For the past 15 years, Lorenzo Reyes’s family has thrown a party, inviting family and friends over for Super bowl Sunday.

Last year, they started zumba dancing during halftime, a cross between salsa dancing and the tango. Reyes hopes the new addition to their party will become a new super bowl tradition.

"That's pretty much what everybody's asking about. When is halftime, when are we going to do Zumba? You know there's a player for the New York Giants, a wide receiver who does a zumba dance. We look forward to that”, says Reyes.

The super bowl provided more than just entertainment for local residents; it provided a big boost in business for pizza shops like Bravo Pizza. Whose phones were ringing off the hook with orders since Sunday afternoon.

Bravo Pizza employee Adora Rangel says, "It was really chaotic, we were really busy running around and we had a few tables we were dealing with all the phones and all the tables here."

And now that the New York Giants have been crowned Super Bowl Champions, the work begins for local shirt design company Guerilla Graffix, who are creating 18 different shirt designs for the big game. They shipped out championship shirts for both teams prior to Sunday’s game, and while the Giants gear will be hitting the shelves, the Patriots apparel shipped out east is going elsewhere.

"Everything that is done over there, unless that particular team wins it, they have to send it to a third world country or burn in”, says Daniel Smithline, Vice President of Guerilla Graffix.
