Ill. Catholics worry over Obama birth control plan

CHICAGO (AP) -- The directors of two Catholic organizations in Illinois say they still have concerns about the provision of free contraception in President Barack Obama's revised health insurance mandate.

They contend it might conflict with an exemption in Illinois state law that allows Catholic institutions to offer their employees insurance plans that do not cover birth control.

Patrick Cacchione, director of the Illinois Catholic Health Association, says his group cannot participate in something it thinks is immoral.

Since 2003, Illinois law has required insurance companies to include contraception coverage in plans sold to companies. But there's an exemption for self-insured employers, which includes most Catholic institutions.

The Chicago Tribune reported Saturday (http://tinyurl.com/788l2pl) that Robert Gilligan, director of the Catholic Conference of Illinois, also still has questions about how Obama's plan would work.

It is wrong to force Catholic Organizations to adhere to the use of contraception in their health insurance programs! This is yet another example of our government "Big Brother" intruding into others lives and trying to dictate the way people and private organizations choose to believe and run their lives! I am not a Catholic but agree completely with the Catholic Church on their views of abstinence and the value and preservation of Human Life! We Are Not Just mere Animals who run irresponsibly off their carnal desires!! We have a Brain!! We Are Human Beings Created By God The Almighty! In His Own Image! And last time I checked Having Babies is a GOOD Thing! It's a Blessing! It's what makes the Future Happen!! Anyone who doesn't understand this is ill in the head as far as I'm concerned! Your children are the only one true objective measurable form of success that will go on after your gone!! Everything else is just none-sense!! My culture is killing itself today in their neglect of the next generation and in their low birth rates due to these twisted new age, gia worship, selfish Career/monetary/materialistic focused, anit-life, anit-having kids theologies! Am I the only one that see's that our culture is dying? The planet is NOT over-populating and even if one day it does..what better motivation than to find other worlds out among the stars!! Because The Heavens Above ARE Ultimately Our Future and where people need to start looking up again, humble themselves before God and realize their arrogance in the true scheme of things!

They may think they are being discriminating against, but they can't counter by discriminating themselves. They are not operating their employee run businesses (the hospitals, schools and other organizations that employee many non catholics I'm sure) as a church. They are running them as businesses and need to budge somewhere in the middle on how they run a business. There is a precedent. Mormons polygamy was evaporated in deference to American law, as was (on a smaller level, to us) Native American use of peyote in ceremonies. The Catholic church is not above the law. That doesn't make them to discriminated against.

There are too many people now and our planet is already over stuffed.. So the stupidness is yeah have more kids and have no room for them and then I get to pay for more families in poverty.. Birth control should be mandatory. Having kids is not a disease so it doesn't need to spread.
