ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Baby Maggie has made it home for the holidays.
Maggie and her mother Houng Le arrived at the Rockford Airport today from Utah. That's where they moved with Maggie's father a year ago.
Seven-month-old Maggie was born prematurely and suffers from severe brain damage—she could have just weeks to live. So friends and family members wanted to bring her home to Rockford for the holidays. Because her condition requires special transportation to travel, they had to take a charter plane: a five-thousand dollar ride that Denver-based company 'Aero Angel' paid for.
Huong Le said, "Thank you so much to everybody who has been able to help us out it's really appreciated."
The organization 'Footprints in the Sky' also helped with the flight and so have many of you. Since we first aired the story we've received dozens of e-mails and Facebook comments.
ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- We've received more than a dozen emails and Facebook comments, all in an effort to bring a 7-month old baby home to Rockford for the holidays. We're told the little girl could have just weeks to live.
Family friend Fauna Lewis says, "Everyone’s efforts and steps have been ultimately to get them home and we're going to do it. I can feel it, all of us feel it, that we're going to get them home. And when we do...I don't know, it's going to be a cry fest for sure."
Little Maggie was born prematurely and suffers from severe brain damage, her condition requires her to have special transportation to travel, that can cost upwards of 20 thousand dollars.
Her family and friends have started a new fundraiser through Facebook aimed at bringing Maggie to Rockford for the holidays. The mission started on Friday and Maggie’s family says the response has been overwhelming.
I was just in awe. I couldn't believe it. It's amazing and it's really lifted my spirits. It's just refreshing to know that there's still good people out there and I’m just very, very happy and feel very blessed”, says Huong Le, Maggie’s mother.
