Homicide Suspect Arrested


On Saturday afternoon, Beloit Police Detectives assisted by U.S Marshall Agents arrested Tevon Marley at a house in the 1900 block of Elmwood Avenue, for 1st Degree Intentional Homicide. Detectives and Marshalls went to the house with information that Marley was there. Marley initially hid in the attic, where officers were able to talk him out of hiding. He was taken into custody.

Marley was wanted for the November 4, 2012 homicide of Ricky Sims, Jr. of Chicago, IL.

On November 4, 2012, around 11:30 a.m., Beloit Police Officers and Fire Department Paramedics responded to the 700 block of Merrill Street, in reference to a shooting. The victim was identified as Ricky Sims, Jr. Upon arrival, officers found Sims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the Beloit Hospital where he subsequently died during surgery. Investigation into the incident identified Marley as the shooter.

Tevon I. Marley will be held in the Rock County Jail pending his first court appearance.
