Cherry Valley Cleans Up After Flooding

It was a long and tiring day for the Gonzalez family from Cherry Valley. They sifted through suitcases and these water-filled storage bins...hoping to salvage whatever they could from this week's flooding. "We just started cleaning up, picking up all the stuff, taking most of the water out of the furnace, the bath tubs, the bathrooms," said Linda Gonzales. The family says water gushed through windows like this one here. About four feet of water ended up inside. You can see the high water mark right here. That water destroyed their son's downstair's bedroom. Not much is left behind except for these cracks in the walls His CD collection is caked with mud. Carlos spent Tuesday night sleeping upstairs. "Just on a couch basically, sat there for awhile and just got to thinking for awhile, figuring out what we're going to do," Carlos Gonzales said. His mother said it was hard to see her son without a room...and no clothes to wear."It really bothered me. I had to go to the store and find an open store to see if i could get him a change out of his pajamas for something," said Linda Gonzalez. Despite that tangible grief, the Gonzales family will keep cleaning up....and pray better days and fewer pile-ups in and outside their home.
