ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A rehabilitation hospital in Rockford is starting construction to handle more patients.
Van Matre HealthSouth has broken ground on a new addition. The 14,000 square foot expansion will include more than 60 new rooms for patients.
"We're the only acute rehabilitation hospital in the region, not only serving the Rockford community but but its surrounding communities as well. So as the community continues to grow, we need to grow with that community to provide comprehensive rehabilitation services," said Van Matre HealthSouth CEO Ken Bowman.
Construction should wrap up in fall of 2014.
