ROCKFORD (WIFR) – The Rock River Valley Blood Center says its nearly out of one blood type and expects its supply to continue to decrease.

The RRVBC is calling for more people to donate. It says summertime is typically challenging since people are busier travelling, however blood levels are usually not so low already by June.

"We can't make blood. If it gets to the point where we're afraid that we're not going to make it through a weekend or something, we might have to look at importing blood from another blood center but that is at a great cost to us. We don't want to do that if we don't have to," said Jennifer Bowman with the RRVBC.
