UPDATE: STATELINE (WIFR) -- NorthPointe Health and Wellness Campus has received the state’s approval to move forward on their plans to build a new Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Center.
“We are very pleased that the state observed the need in this region for local access to outpatient surgical services,” states Jason Dotson, a Vice President of Beloit Health System and NorthPointe. “We will proceed with our plans to take this project before our Health System Board for final approval.” Dotson added, “If approval is obtained from the Health System Board, we can implement our timeline for opening the new Center in 2016.”
In October 2013, NorthPointe and Beloit Health System announced their plans to add a $15.3 million dollar surgical center to the NorthPointe Campus, originally built in 2007. A feasibility study indicated the region would benefit from a new surgical center, since currently the residents are not served in this area.
Timothy McKevett, President and CEO stated, “We are committed to the Stateline region as a whole,” McKevett added, “We would like to thank the community and business leaders of Roscoe, Rockton and South Beloit for their full support of this project”. He continued, “This is going to benefit the patients not only at NorthPointe, but also the patients at Beloit Hospital.” In the future, the health system plans to modernize the hospital’s surgical space. By relocating some of their current ambulatory cases to Roscoe, it will free up space at the hospital for this remodeling.
New construction for the Surgical Center addition will add 18,500 sq. ft. on the first floor, and shell space on the second floor of 12,157 sq. ft. This will include space for two operating rooms, two procedure rooms, and 14 pre and post-surgery patient care rooms. The new Ambulatory Surgical Center will create 24 full-time jobs to staff the new facility.
ROSCOE (WIFR) -- NorthPointe Health and Wellness Campus in Roscoe will soon celebrate its sixth anniversary of providing physician and wellness services. NorthPointe opened the innovative 170,000 square-foot facility in December, 2007. During their six years of operation, they have added needed services, expanded with specialized physicians and increased the number of patients seeking their care. Now NorthPointe, which operates under its affiliation with Beloit Health System, is researching the opportunity of adding an Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Center.
“We have performed a feasibility study on the possibility of an outpatient surgical center at NorthPointe and the project makes sense to pursue,” states Gus Larson, Director of NorthPointe Health and Wellness Campus. “We have received Beloit Health System’s board approval to submit the necessary paperwork to the State of Illinois for a Certificate of Need (CON).”
Currently, NorthPointe Clinic provides primary and specialized care with over 30 physicians on staff. The Clinic provides weekday medical coverage, however, after-hours care is provided by their Immediate Care staff from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. daily. The Immediate Care physicians are all board certified in emergency medicine and provide timely diagnosis and treatment for most family emergencies.
“Adding an Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Center is a vision that we have considered for several years now due to capacity issues in the current operating rooms at our hospital,” explains Tim McKevett, President of Beloit Health System. “As we evaluate the growth of NorthPointe and its medical services, we’ve established the next important service is to provide a surgical facility. We are excited about the potential to bring a higher level of care to the northern Illinois communities we serve.”
NorthPointe is the first comprehensive health campus of its kind, specifically designed to meet the rapidly growing healthcare needs of individuals and families in the northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin area. It is situated on 122 acres of rolling prairie, located near the corners of Rockton and Willowbrook Roads, emphasizing the holistic healing approach to the campus. The Wellness component focuses on prevention including an indoor fitness center with over 100 pieces of fitness equipment and two swimming pools.
