ROCKFORD (WIFR) – More than 30,000 veterans are still uninsured and depending on their situation, some veterans and their families will still need to sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

So far, nearly 400,000 people visited the state site, getcoveredillinois.gov to determine if they’re eligible for Medicaid or new insurance coverage. Several local agencies are hosting sessions to help us out.
The Federal Govenrment hasn’t released any official enrollment numbers yet, but experts say the website, healthcare.gov should run better by the end of the month.

"Some people are getting through, so that's encouraging. the other part is, we've been looking more towards the people that will be on Medicaid or that we think will be on Medicaid so we can get them into what's called the ABE system, that is operational."
