FREEPORT -- Quitting smoking or stopping tobacco use is the best thing you can do for your health. FHN offers two options for those ready to quit:
The Quit Smoking / Tobacco Cessation Group offers help for those who want to go through the experience of quitting with others. Each group (at least one new group will organize each quarter) meets for six consecutive weeks, with a different focus for each meeting.
The next 2013 Quit Smoking / Tobacco Cessation Group will meet from noon – 1 p.m. Tuesdays starting August 6 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. The cost of the group is $60 and must be paid at the time of enrollment. Space is limited to 20 participants. To enroll in the August group, call 815-599-7300.
Smokebrakers is an individualized program that begins with an assessment of your smoking or tobacco use patterns, and can be used along with popular stop-smoking techniques like gum, the graduated nicotine patch or medication. It does not employ guilt or shocking images in its approach; it helps participants create and stick to a solid plan for success in quitting smoking for good.
Smokebrakers is $60. For more information on the program, call FHN Community Services at 815-599-7437.
