FREEPORT (WIFR) -- In an attempt to increase the public’s knowledge of the upcoming impact of the Affordable Care Act [aka Obama Care], Dimond Brothers, a statewide insurance agency, is an sponsoring an informational forum to be held at Freeport Public Library this Wednesday and repeated this Thursday evening at 5:15 PM. The after-work format is designed to give individuals under age 65 an understanding of how the medical insurance provisions of the Affordable Care Act effect them, how to determine their likely cost for insurance under the Act and answer individual questions they may have.
Participants should expect to leave the meeting with:
• A clearer understanding of how the Marketplace Exchanges work
• Knowing what to expect October 1st and January 1st
• Knowing how to enroll for coverage
• Knowing who will pay Penalties and who will get Subsidies
• Knowing how Pre-Existing Conditions will impact coverage.
Two health insurance professionals associated with the Dimond Bros. organization—Stephen Lafferty, from Lafferty Insurance Agency, and Ted Odendahl, from Ferguson Financial Insurance—have been asked to briefly present information and guide the conversation that follows. This is designed to be a public service forum to share useful information about the new law. No specific products will be discussed and nothing is offered for sale. The forum is open to the public without cost.
