First Patient Admitted to Presence St. Joseph's Center's New Addition

FREEPORT (WIFR) -- Frances Zachara, a Freeport resident, recently was the first patient to be admitted to the new rehabilitation unit at Presence Saint Joseph Center, formerly known as Provena St. Joseph Center, 659 East Jefferson Street, Freeport.

The new unit received final occupancy approval from the Illinois Department of Public Health, Office of Health Care Regulation last week. The new 16-bed Medicare-certified short-stay rehabilitation wing was built with private rooms to accommodate the many area patients who need short-term rehabilitation.

Presence Saint Joseph Center provides rapid, intensive rehabilitation that allows patients who have had hip or knee replacements, or other types of surgery, to return home and get back to work as quickly – and safely – as possible. Ms. Zachara stated that she is very happy with the therapy she is receiving. “I enjoy the staff and I love my private room!” she said.
