Dr. Jyoti Kalra, a board-certified radiation oncologist, has joined the FHN caring team at FHN Leonard C. Ferguson Cancer Center in Freeport.
Dr. Kalra earned his medical degree from Gajra Raja Medical College in Madhya Pradesh, India. He completed his residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, Wis. During his final year in residency, he was named Chief Resident of the program.
After his residency, Dr. Kalra completed a fellowship in radiation oncology at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, where he received a fellowship award from the American Cancer Society. He has served as a faculty member at the University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago and at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ.
Other honors include a one-year term as president of the LaSalle County Medical Society, serving as chairman of the Department of Clinical Support at St. Mary’s Hospital in Streator for 4 years and as treasurer of the medical staff there for 2 years.
Most recently, Dr. Kalra has cared for patients at Unity Point Health – Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa and at the Northern Illinois Cancer Treatment Center in Dixon. He has more than 30 years of experience in the field, and is experienced in the latest radiation oncology techniques including 3D, IMRT (Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy), IGRT (Image-Guided Radiation Therapy), SRS (stereotactic radiosurgery), and SBRT.
