ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- It’s been one year since Rockford was named the fourth fattest city and that’s one title Stateline leaders aren’t taking in Stride.
For the past 12 months, Rockford’s YMCA has been focusing on wellness. We caught up with the CEO, Mike Brown, who tells us last years’ ranking struck a nerve. Now, instead of playing video games after school, Kids are encouraged to get active. Parents can come in and talk to nutrition experts and there’s even miniaturized gym equipment to help kids in the habit of working out.
“The one truth we all know, regardless of where we are in any magazine or study, is that if families and kids do not start taking this seriously, then this is the first generation who will not outlive their parents,” said Brown.
