Woman Struck with Pistol in Rockford

ROCKFORD (WIFR) - A woman is injured after she was struck with a pistol early Friday morning in Rockford.

At approximately 2:17 a.m., Rockford police responded to 1700 11th Street for a disorderly conduct complaint. A woman was standing outside her apartment when, police say, a couple men got out of a car parked in an alley near her apartment.

One of them pointed a handgun at her and verbally abused her. Police say she unsuccessfully tried to grab the handgun and one of the suspects hit her on the forehead with it, causing minor injuries. The suspects then got into their car and drove away, heading eastbound.

Police say the victim did not know the suspects. She suggested her boyfriend had recently gotten into an argument with some people and maybe they were there looking for him.
