UPDATE: Rockford Shooting Victim Expected to Be OK

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – A scary situation in Rockford this morning after a car is shot several times, while driving near the YMCA.

It happened around 6:45 in the south bound lanes of North 2nd Street near ‘Y’ boulevard. Rockford Police say the 24-year-old male driver was heading south on N. 2nd when he was shot at least six rounds were fired from another car. The driver suffered non-life threatening injuris.

The suspects are still on the loose.

Police are looking for 3-4 Hispanic men in their late teens or early 20’s. They were in a dark-colored 4-door vehicle.

UPDATE: A man is expected to be OK after being shot while driving Friday morning.

Police say around 6:45 a.m., a man was driving at Route 251 near Y Boulevard when six shots were fired from another car. The victim was hit and taken to a local hospital.

Shortly after, police closed the intersection of Route 251 and Y Boulevard. The area is expected to reopen by 9 a.m. at the latest.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A person was shot at Route 251 near Y Boulevard around 7 a.m. Friday.

Police say the southbound lanes at Route 251 near Y Boulevard are blocked off. They expect to reopen around 8:30 a.m.
