Veteran Beloit Police Officer Retires After a 33 Year Career

Beloit (WIFR) -- The Beloit police department bids farewell to Captain Vince Sciame as he retires after 33 years on the force.

Friends and family threw him a retirement celebration this afternoon. Sciame joined the Beloit police department in 1980.

He was Beloit’s first canine officer and he worked with Buddy the German shepherd for 8 years. Sciame says a lot has changed since he was a rookie and he's always enjoyed serving the people of Beloit.

Sciame has had multiple sclerosis since 2000 and plans to focus more on his health but pledges to remain active in his community.
