Two Teens Shot, One Airlifted After Freeport Shooting

Update: The Freeport Police obtained an arrest warrant for 20 year old Ryan D. Thomas of Freeport in connection with last nights shooting in the 200 Block of West Broadway. At about 3:25pm today Mr. Thomas turned himself into the Freeport Police. Thomas is currently charged with Aggravated Battery with a firearm, Aggravated Discharge of a firearm and Possession of a Weapon by a Felon. Bond has been set a $250,000. It is believed that there was a verbal argument that escalated to a physical confrontation between Thomas and several subjects which then led to the gunfire.

The case remains under investigation and additional charges against Thomas may be forthcoming.

FREEPORT (WIFR) -- There was a shooting tonight in Freeport. The shooting happened around 8 p.m. in front of a home on the 200 block of West Broadway Street.

According to police, two teens were each shot once. One teen was shot in their side and was airlifted to Rockford Memorial. The second teen was shot in the arm. No word yet on their condition.

According to police, three subjects were walking and while passing the home where the two teens were. A verbal exchange became “heated” and one of the three subjects pulled a gun out and fired, hitting the teens.
