Two Teens Arrested in Belvidere Cocaine Bust

BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- On Tuesday, the Belvidere Police Department Narcotic Unit arrested two subjects on multiple drug charges.

Miguel Zarate, 19, and admitted gang member, of Belvidere, is being charged with one count of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a public park. Zarate is currently being held in the Boone County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Pablo Mora, 17, and admitted gang associate of Belvidere was charged with three counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a public park. Mora is currently being held in the Boone County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

The arrests of Zarate and Mora concluded a two month long investigation by the Belvidere Police. On Tuesday, Belvidere Police Detectives, Patrolmen and a Belvidere Police K-9 officer executed a search warrant in the 300 block of Nebraska Street.

Belvidere. Police also searched a residence in the 500 block of Buchanan Street. During the course of the investigation, Belvidere police seized cocaine, cannabis, drug paraphernalia, and cash.

The investigation continues and additional charges and/or arrests are expected.

A class x felony is punishable by six to 30 years in the department of corrections.
