ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Transform Rockford members say they want to hear from all of the community, so now they’re reaching out to students.

“Transform Rockford is supposed to be about the long-term. And who’s going to care about the long-term more than today’s youth?” Transform Rockford Executive Director Mike Schablaske asked.

Members explained Transform Rockford’s mission at Rockford Lutheran High School today. Students broke into small groups, then returned to the assembly to hear some ideas.
“Since we’re still the youth, I believe that we have ideas, to keep people off the streets and keep teen sin school and keep them educated and stop dropping out, stuff like that,” said Rockford Lutheran senior Allison Oates.

Transform Rockford is still holding community sessions to determine a vision. The next meeting will be Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the Holiday Inn Express in Loves Park.
