LEE COUNTY (WIFR) -- National Weather Service personnel were out all Tuesday afternoon surveying damage from Monday nights storms. It was confirmed that a brief tornado did touch down in Harmon, Illinois. This is in west central portions of Lee County. The tornado was rated and e-f-0 with winds of around 85 mph. The tornado traveled about four miles with damage mostly contained to farm fields and utility poles.
The same system is also to blame for significant damage near Walton, also in Lee County. Winds were estimated to be near 100 miles per hour and brought down several grain silos at the consolidated grain and barge company . However, that damage was found to be from straight-line-winds and not a tornado.
