STEPHENSON COUNTY (WIFR) – There are new developments today about how the state’s medical marijuana law could affect the Stateline.
Another company has signed with Stephenson County to build a medical marijuana cultivation center at mill Race Crossing. If it gets approval from the State, In Grown Farms is the third company to sign such a deal, but the state will only award one license per police district.
For those wondering how the centers will operate, Kevin McGinnis from In Grown Farms says we should think of it as a factory.
“It’s all a process, it’s a recurring process and again your demand is based on how much the medical marijuana allows for.”
Winenbago County is also trying to get into the game, asking the state to be considered for two dispensaries – one in Rockford and one in Machesney Park. No exact location has been chose, but Machesney Park Mayor Jerry Bolin says they will be near I-90.
