The Cost of Daylight Saving Time

ROCKFORD (WIFR )--This weekends time change not only cost us an hour of sleep but also cost the country 434 million dollars, according to a recent report by Carpenter Company.

The study found that by losing out on an hour of sleep, our productivity goes down and we lose focus. That lack of focus equates to a loss in revenue at a workplace.

It wasn't all bad news though. This weekend's time change meant an uptick in business for one Stateline clock shop. Customers have been calling and stopping by " Krenek's Clock Haven" in Rockford after incorrectly changing their clocks.

"Usually the big issue we run into is "I reset the time and now the clock face says one time but the clock is striking something else,"" Krenek's Clock Haven Owner Doug Nelson said.

In case you were wondering, the number one thing people do wrong when changing mechanical clocks is moving the minute hand backwards. That damages the gears which then requires fixing.
