UPDATE: Improvements are still being made to Rockford’s Sweden House Lodge after the building was condemned this time last year.
The new property manager says he’s working on recommendations from the health department, such as installing a new sink and bathroom ceiling tiles. He plans on calling the fire department for an inspection soon to find out when the building can re-open.
ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The Sweden House Lodge is nearly ready to reopen after shutting down for nearly a year.
It was condemned in March 2013 because of broken plumbing and gas pipes that weren't sealed. Inspectors with the city of Rockford gave the building’s new owner a green light to open. The building went into foreclosure and the bank appointed a new property manager. He told 23 News on Saturday that he plans to reopen the hotel within the next week or two.
