ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Two local business combine forces and share their recipes to create a tasty autumn treat.
There was a long, long line outside of the Sugarjones cupcake shop this morning and it was all because of one cupcake, which tastes like an Edward's Apple Orchard Apple Cider Donut. The cupcake shop announced the special flavor on Facebook this week and we're told they received more than 80 dozen pre-orders. Including the other cupcakes the bakery sells, they made more than 1,600 cupcakes. The owner of the shop says they have been working on the recipe for some time to get it just right.
"We’re trying to duplicate a little bit of the fried taste without obviously having to fry it. So we dipped it in sugar twice and in between the cinnamon and sugar we put a caramel apple cider glaze,” said the owner of Sugarjones Bakery, Kathy Pommery.
Sugarjones Bakery is located across the street from the Hilander on Rural. Their hours are Wednesday through Friday, 12-6 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Cupcakes are $2.50 each or $27.50 for a dozen.
Visit their facebook page for the daily special cupcakes and other treats.
