Success by Six Breakfast

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – The United Way wants to make sure our kids have as bright a future as possible. That’s why they’re carefully watching the “Success by Six” program.

“The children are more literate. They’re becoming prepared to begin reading, they understand how to hold a book and to read a book and look at pictures and list to a story and tell that story back. These are all critically important things, “ said Paul Logli, Rock River Valley United Way President.

This morning, the United Way hosted a breakfast to thank their volunteers. Over the past two years, more than 1,000 books have been passed out to preschoolers. The goal is to make sure they’re ready for kindergarten, no matter what their background. There are more positive initiatives in District 205, from pre-school to high schoo, we’ll tell you about them all next week in an examination of “Classroom Victories”.
