BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- Kids at Meehan Elementary School got a jump on Veteran's Day.
Yesterday, they spent their lunch hour getting to know local veterans and active-duty personnel, before heading to an all-school assembly.
We caught up with one local vet who's been doing this for three years. He says it's a fun way to mark such an important holiday, and give the kids a better idea of what the military does and has done.
"My daughter's currently in second grades. I started coming when she was in Kindergarten. I look forward to doing it, it's fun with the kids. They have a lot of interesting questions about the uniform, and what I did while I was in the service, things of that nature. So I look forward to it and the kids do too,” said Justin Revera, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Veteran’s day is Monday, November 12, 2012.
