ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Some of the stateline's best cooks battled today while serving up their best chili recipes for the Chili Shoot-Out.
People got started cooking early this morning browning the meat and stirring in their secret ingredients to make their chili the best in the area.
34 teams competed today in the shootout and there was also something new this year to work off all the chili they're eating today.
20 teams competed in a Wiffle Ball tournament.
The Chili Shoot-Out has been entertaining people for over three decades, but it also helps feed the less fortunate in the community.
Last year's shoot-out collected more than 2,000 pounds of food for the Rockford Food Pantry.
