St. Stan's 32nd Annual Polish Fest

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Hundreds gather to celebrate their Polish heritage with family and friends Sunday afternoon in Rockford.

Lively polka music filled the neighborhood near Saint Stanislaus Church for the annual Polish Fest. Families could enjoy plenty of pirogis and potato pancakes, as well as other traditional polish dishes. This is the 32nd year the church has hosted the gathering. Many say it’s the perfect way to re-connect with old and new friends.

"This is the one time a year you get to see a lot of people that actually don't come out or you don’t see for a whole lot of time,” says Jeff Bremer, who helped organize the event. “This is a very fun gathering. We normally have 2 to three bands and the polish dancers and it's just a lot of fun.

The Polish Fest is the church's main fundraiser for the year. Organizers estimate more than a thousand people turned out for the festivities.
