Some local residents are about to pay a little more for one of their utilities.

Starting next month South Beloit customers who use more than 4,000 gallons per month will pay an extra 16 cents a day. That's an increase of nearly five dollars every month.

The revenue will go towards upgrades for water mains, hydrants, and other projects that deliver reliable water to our community, the new rate will go into affect October 1.
