Slippery Road Conditions Lead to Crashes in Rockford

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Slippery road conditions have cause a lot of car crashes overnight around the Stateline.

The latest happened just before 1:00 a.m. Monday in the 3400 block of Alpine Road. Rockford police say the driver lost control of his car and smashed into three trees. His passenger was thrown out of the car. She's in stable but critical condition at a local hospital. The driver sustained minor injuries.

Rockford police are also investigating a car crash at McFarland Road and Spring Brook Road. It happened late Sunday night around 10:30 p.m. Paramedics brought in the driver of one of the cars to a local hospital. He is being treated for serious injuries; otherwise, there were no other injuries. The intersection was shutdown for nearly four hours due to the crash.
