ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A scary situation for a local neighborhood after police say two suspects use sawed off air-soft guns to shoot up a garage sale. A six-year-old was hit in the face during the incident.
Investigators arrested the men a couple blocks away. Officers believe the guns were designed by the suspects to look like real firearms. The attack happened at around noon at a home in the 1800 block of Halsted. The father of the injured six-year-old says he's thankful his son is okay.
Adam Wiemers, father of son attacked at garage sale, says, "I realize this was just a pellet gun shooting but it could have been a lot worse. Had it been a real gun. That went through my mind a lot. Had it been two inches to the left, his eye would have been shot out."
The suspects are in custody.
