Showdown in Wisconsin: Lt. Governor Recall Election

Updated: Wed 11:41 PM, May 30, 2012

WISCONSIN (WIFR) -- Almost all the focus of next week's Recall Election in Wisconsin is on Governor Scott Walker and his challenger Tom Barrett. Stateliners might recall the other candidate facing a recall in the Badger State.

Rebecca Reed spent about two years as a Reporter and Anchor at WIFR-TV starting in the late 90's. Since then Rebecca has a new last name "Kleefisch" and a new title Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin.

"I wanted to help the governor balance a 3.6 billion dollar deficit without raising taxes. we've been able to do that," Kleefisch said.

But Kleefisch may lose her new title after just a year and a half.

Kleefisch says "We are here to take our government back. Are you all with me?"

A Lieutenant in the Madison Fire Department is now trying to become the Lieutenant Governor. And Mahlon Mitchell says his lack of political experience is an asset.

"I look at the experience we have in office right now and I say well what does that get ya. Look where we are right now. We have a divided state. We have families that can't talk to families, neighbors that don't talk to neighbors," Mitchell said.

Meantime, Kleefisch has dubbed herself Wisconsin's Job Ambassador. And says she can help turn around the states poor job numbers over the past year if given a chance.

"We knew more jobs would be created toward the end of those four years, here we're back on the ballot after a year and five months so it's very tough to judge what's going to happen two and a half years from now as we're sitting here today," Kleefisch said.
