BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) -- Yellowstone County authorities say escape charges are expected against a man charged with murder who allegedly tried to break out of jail.
Sheriff Mike Linder tells the Billings Gazette (http://bit.ly/18gCSyF) video surveillance captured images of Simon Jacobson trying to kick through a glass partition in the county jail's visiting room April 19 while another inmate grabbed a detention officer.
The sheriff says security was not breached.
The second inmate, David Heafner, is expected to be charged with assault on a police officer and escape by accountability.
Jacobson is being held in the slaying of Dejuan Laster of Rockford, Ill., who was kidnapped from his hotel room and shot near Billings.
Jacobson also is charged with a string of casino robberies.
Heafner is being held on felony assault charges.
