ROCKFORD (WIFR) – District 205’s largest school will be the center of a make-over come summer time. Jefferson High School has been selected for this year’s Sharefest project. The improvements will include a new library, new ceilings and floors, and fresh coats of paint.
Project leaders say Jefferson is showing its wear and tear after being built 34 years ago. They also want to give it a fresh look as the school fully launches career academies next year. One student says she’s excited to help out.
"Getting the younger generation excited for coming to Jefferson you know I've loved my experience at Jefferson, I really want the younger generation to really embrace it as well so I want to be part of it,” said Jefferson senior, Lorenzo Jimenez.
Work at Jefferson begins June 21st and should last for about a week. For more information on how to become a volunteer, visit www.rockfordsharefest.com.
